Hardware Engineer – Automotive Low‑Power Electrical Drives

About the role

As a Hardware Engineer at Bosch Group in Budapest, you will work within a small, focused team to develop low‑power automotive electrical drive systems for thermal‑management components such as HVAC blower controllers, engine cooling fans and coolant pumps. You will be involved throughout the product lifecycle, from system analysis to validation and testing.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate in a hardware team of 1‑3 engineers following the V‑model and Bosch processes.
• Develop hardware concepts for 12 V/48 V, < 1 kW automotive drive systems.
• Analyse system requirements, define hardware architecture and create detailed specifications.
• Simulate, prototype, and validate analog, digital and power‑electronics circuits using tools such as OrCAD and LTSpice.
• Produce design documentation, worst‑case calculations, FMEA, FAM, DRBFM analyses and test plans.
• Assess feasibility, cost and functionality, and implement design changes as needed.
• Coordinate with international partners and other Bosch development teams.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline.
• System‑level thinking with a structured problem‑solving approach.
• Familiarity with automotive standards and test specifications (e.g., LV124).
• Strong documentation culture and precise working style.
• Good written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Power electronics and electrical drive systems (EMC, DC‑LINK, B6, bridge drivers, LIN, CAN, microcontrollers).
• Simulation and worst‑case calculation tools (OrCAD, LTSpice).
• Hardware testing and validation methodologies.
• Reliability analysis techniques (FMEA, FAM, DRBFM, morphological matrix).
