Associate Software Engineer – Web Scraping

About the role

SEON is a fraud‑prevention and AML‑compliance platform that helps companies stop fraud and protect revenue. As an Associate Software Engineer on the web‑scraping team, you will work on the real‑time scraping platform that powers SEON’s data‑enrichment products.

Key responsibilities

• Write production‑quality, well‑tested scraper code in Python, including comprehensive unit and integration tests.
• Learn the architecture of the collection platform—scrapers, proxy layer, queues, and enrichment API—and apply design docs to your work.
• Debug issues across multiple components using logging, monitoring, and alerting tools.
• Work with the proxy infrastructure, understand selection/rotation, and recover from blocks.
• Participate in incident response, follow established processes and document findings.
• Develop reliability‑engineering skills: SRE practices, resilience patterns, and observability for constantly changing upstream sources.
• Deliver work in small, reviewable increments and automate repetitive steps in the build‑test‑deploy pipeline.
• Use an AI coding assistant regularly, verify outputs proportionally to risk, and share learnings with the team.

Required profile

• 1–2 years of professional software‑engineering experience or a strong portfolio; solid Python skills.
• Hands‑on exposure to web scraping or automated data collection (coursework, side projects, or internships).
• Working understanding of HTTP and networking fundamentals, including requests, responses, headers, status codes, TLS and proxies.
• Comfort writing tests and collaborating in a code‑review culture using Git.
• Basic familiarity with Docker and willingness to learn Kubernetes on the job.
• Regular use of at least one AI coding assistant and curiosity to explore its capabilities.
• Strong communication skills in English and ability to collaborate across backend engineers, product managers, and infrastructure specialists.
