Hardware Engineer – Automotive Low‑Power Electrical Drives

About the role

As a Hardware Engineer at Bosch Group in Budapest, you will work within a small team to develop automotive low‑power electrical drive systems. The focus is on control and drive electronics for HVAC blower controllers, engine cooling fans, coolant pumps and future thermal‑management products.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate in a hardware engineering team of 1–3 engineers throughout the V‑model development lifecycle.
• Develop hardware concepts, simulations and validation plans for 12 V/48 V low‑power drive systems (< 1 kW).
• Analyse system requirements, define hardware architecture and create detailed design documentation.
• Perform worst‑case calculations, FMEA, FAM, DRBFM and other validation activities.
• Evaluate feasibility, cost and functionality, and implement design changes as needed.
• Work with international partners and other Bosch development teams.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.
• System‑level thinking and structured problem‑solving approach.
• Familiarity with automotive standards and test specifications (e.g., LV124).
• Strong documentation culture and precise working style.
• Good English communication skills, both written and spoken.

Required skills

• Power electronics and electrical drive systems (EMC, DC‑LINK, B6, bridge drivers, LIN/CAN, micro‑controllers).
• Simulation tools such as OrCAD and LTSpice.
• Hardware testing and validation techniques.
• Worst‑case calculations and reliability analysis.
• Use of development methodologies like FMEA, FAM, DRBFM, morphological matrix.
