Hardware Lead Engineer

About the role

As a Hardware Lead Engineer at Bosch in Budapest, you will drive the development of low‑power automotive electrical drive systems, focusing on control and drive electronics for HVAC blower controllers, engine cooling fans, coolant pumps and future thermal‑management products. You will lead a small team of hardware engineers through the full development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Organise and technically lead a hardware engineering team of 1–3 members.
• Develop hardware according to the V‑model, HW‑Spice and Bosch processes.
• Design highly integrated low‑power electrical drive solutions (12 V/48 V, < 1 kW).
• Analyse system requirements and architecture, formulate HW requirements and create HW architecture.
• Simulate, validate and document electronic HW concepts, circuits and designs.
• Produce worst‑case calculations, simulations, FMEA, FAM, DRBFM and test plans.
• Assess feasibility, cost and functionality, and implement design changes.
• Mentor team members and review their work.
• Collaborate with international partners and other Bosch development teams.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.
• Proven experience leading and mentoring a small hardware engineering sub‑project team.
• System‑level thinking and structured problem‑solving approach.
• Strong knowledge of power electronics and automotive electrical drive systems.
• Familiarity with automotive standards and test specifications (e.g., LV124).
• Fluent written and spoken English.
