HW Functional Safety Engineer

About the role

As a HW Functional Safety Engineer you will join Bosch Engineering Centre Budapest to develop safety‑critical hardware for automotive electronic control units. You will work closely with hardware, system and software architects to translate safety concepts into concrete hardware requirements and ensure compliance with international safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define and derive hardware‑level safety requirements from Technical Safety Concepts (TSC).
• Participate in hardware circuit design, focusing on safety‑critical functions.
• Perform quantitative and qualitative safety analyses such as FMEDA, DFA, FTA and FMEA to calculate safety metrics (SPFM, LFM, PMHF) and demonstrate freedom from interference.
• Support verification activities by defining test plans, evaluating diagnostic coverage and validating safety mechanisms.
• Maintain safety documentation, including HW Safety Requirements, Safety Analysis Reports and DFA records, ensuring strict adherence to ISO 26262 Part 5.

Required profile

• University degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics or a comparable technical field.
• Solid experience in automotive hardware development or functional safety engineering.
• Hands‑on experience executing safety analyses (FMEDA, DFA, FTA or FMEA).
• Strong understanding of analog and digital circuitry, microcontroller architectures and ECU‑level safety design.
• Fluent written and spoken English for collaboration in international teams.
