Junior Payroll Specialist (Hungary)

About the role

Veeva Systems' EMEA Payroll team is hiring a Junior Payroll Specialist in Budapest with 1-2 years of Hungarian payroll experience. You will take end-to-end ownership of Hungarian payroll calculations while learning from senior colleagues about multi-country European (EMEA) operations, moving beyond local statutory processing into international compliance, vendor management and cross-border payroll.

Key responsibilities

• Run the full payroll cycle for a portfolio of EU countries: data entry, validation, calculation and transmission to external payroll providers
• Reconcile payroll data against source systems and resolve discrepancies quickly and accurately
• Ensure compliance with local tax, social security and statutory requirements
• Process variable pay such as bonuses, commissions, equity (RSUs/stock options), expatriate allowances and complex termination payments
• Support employees with questions on payroll calculations, deductions and taxes
• Work with HR and Finance on employee classification, benefits and payroll accuracy
• Help with internal and external payroll audits and prepare documentation for compliance checks such as SOX
• Carry out ad hoc tasks assigned by the payroll manager

Required profile

• 1+ years of professional experience managing end-to-end payroll, preferably in a multinational setting
• Fluent spoken and written English
• Ability to keep information confidential and make sound judgments in a fast pace

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP and complex formulas
• Data analysis and reconciliation
• Experience with a major HRIS such as Workday is an advantage
