Reliability Engineer – Automotive Power Electronics

About the role

As a Reliability Engineer in Bosch's Electrified Motion – Power Electronics division, you will ensure the robustness and long‑term reliability of automotive power electronics such as inverters, on‑board chargers and DC‑DC converters throughout the product lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate customer reliability requirements and automotive standards (ISO 16750, AEC‑Q100, AEC‑Q101) and set reliability targets.
• Identify, analyse and mitigate reliability risks using structured methods like FMEA.
• Define use cases, mission profiles and load conditions and apply Design for Reliability and physics‑of‑failure principles.
• Develop test and validation plans, including accelerated life testing at component and system level.
• Lead systematic problem‑solving (8D, Ishikawa) for production and field issues and perform root‑cause analysis.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Physics, Chemistry or related field.
• Professional experience in reliability engineering, preferably in automotive or power electronics.
• Understanding of physics‑of‑failure mechanisms and statistical reliability methods.

Required skills

• FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
• Weibull analysis and other statistical reliability methods
• Knowledge of ISO 16750, AEC‑Q100, AEC‑Q101, JEDEC standards
• Experience with high‑voltage power electronics (inverters, DC‑DC converters, on‑board chargers)
