Senior Software Engineer, Customer Solutions

About the role

Cambridge Mobile Telematics is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of custom backend solutions for its growing portfolio of customers in the telematics and mobility sector. The role involves close collaboration with sales, solution architects, and platform engineers to deliver secure, scalable integrations that help insurers and mobility companies improve safety and risk assessment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, validate, release and operate CMT backend customer solutions and integrations.
• Collaborate with Sales, Engineers and Solution Architects to size sprints and participate in scrum planning.
• Conduct on‑site and remote due‑diligence with clients to define integration requirements.
• Ensure implementations are secure, performant, scalable, fault‑tolerant and testable.
• Review architecture proposals and support continuous improvement of the release pipeline.
• Participate in on‑call rotation for production back‑ends and operate in a regulated environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with at least 4 years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and quick learning of new technologies, APIs and SDKs.
• Experience working with cloud services and DevOps practices.

Required skills

• Python programming (primary language).
• Shell scripting, Jenkinsfile and JSON configuration.
• Amazon Web Services: EC2, SQS, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS (PostgreSQL), S3, Kinesis, ECS, IAM.
• Containerisation with Docker and web server configuration with NGINX.
• Databases: PostgreSQL, Cassandra, Consul.
