Senior Software Engineer – Desktop Team (Hybrid, Budapest)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join Formlabs’ Desktop team in Budapest. In this hybrid role you will help build and ship PreForm, the world‑class print preparation application that powers our 3D printers. You will work on a mature C++/Qt/QML codebase to deliver reliable, high‑performance workflows for our users.

Key responsibilities

• Revitalize a mature application by reworking core user workflows, improving architecture, and raising reliability and observability across a large C++/Qt/QML codebase.
• Integrate and harden subsystems that connect the app to printers and cloud services, exposing capabilities through a developer API.
• Develop geometry and rendering features such as mesh processing, support generation, build‑plate packing, and keep complex scenes fast on ordinary hardware.
• Maintain systems and tooling including profiling, memory management, build systems, CI, and developer tooling to keep the codebase healthy.

Required profile

• Proven experience with C++ or other low‑level languages (e.g., Rust) and familiarity with Clojure or Go.
• Ability to architect reliable systems and work effectively in a large, evolving codebase.
• Strong commitment to code quality, testing, and maintainability.
• Comfortable collaborating across functions and tackling ambiguous product problems.
• Quick learner, proactive, and enjoys technically varied challenges.
