Thermal System Engineer – eAxle & eMachine

About the role

As a Thermal System Engineer for eMachine & eAxle at Bosch, you will develop and optimise thermal concepts that guarantee performance, reliability and cost‑effectiveness of electric powertrain systems. You will work closely with experts from electric machines, gearboxes, power electronics and software to bring eMobility solutions from concept to validation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead thermal system design for eMachine and eAxle projects, ensuring optimal performance and cost competitiveness.
• Develop and evaluate thermal layouts in collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
• Perform system‑level thermal simulations and predict component behaviour.
• Plan, execute and analyse thermal measurements to support validation.
• Continuously improve simulation models and align them with measurement data.
• Act as the main interface for thermal topics across domains and with internal/external stakeholders.
• Provide thermal deliverables such as requirement evaluations, customer communications and technical presentations.
• Support software‑related thermal management topics with a basic understanding of control strategies.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Automotive Engineering, Thermodynamics or a comparable field.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer and thermal cause‑and‑effect relationships at component and system level.
• Understanding of electric powertrain architecture, vehicle‑level interactions and cooling concepts for eMobility.
• Experience with system simulation tools (e.g., AMESIM, Simscape, Simulink).
• Proficiency in MATLAB and standard engineering tools such as DOORS and MS Office.
• Familiarity with 3D FEA and CFD tools (e.g., ANSYS, Fluent).
• Basic insight into automotive embedded software and thermal management strategies.
