Thermal System Engineer – eAxle & eMachine

About the role
As a Thermal System Engineer for eMachine & eAxle at Bosch, you will design and optimise thermal concepts that guarantee performance, reliability and cost‑effectiveness of electric powertrain systems. You will work closely with experts from electric machines, gearboxes, power electronics and software to bring e‑mobility solutions from concept to validation.
Key responsibilities
- Lead thermal system development for eMachine and eAxle platforms, ensuring optimal performance and cost‑competitiveness.
- Develop and evaluate layout concepts in collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
- Perform system‑level thermal simulations and predict component behaviour.
- Plan, execute and analyse thermal measurements to support validation.
- Continuously improve simulation models and align them with measurement data.
- Act as the primary interface for thermal topics across electric machine, gearbox and power‑electronics domains.
- Provide technical support to project teams, including requirement evaluation and customer communication.
- Support software‑related thermal management topics with a basic understanding of control strategies.
Required profile
- Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Automotive Engineering, Thermodynamics or a comparable field.
- Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer and thermal cause‑and‑effect relationships at component and system level.
- System‑level understanding of electric powertrain components and vehicle‑level interactions.
- Good grasp of cooling concepts and thermal behaviour in e‑mobility applications.
- Experience with system simulation tools such as AMESIM, Simscape or Simulink.
- Proficiency in MATLAB and standard engineering tools (e.g., DOORS, MS Office).
- Understanding of 3D FEA and CFD methods and tools such as ANSYS or Fluent.
- Basic knowledge of automotive embedded software architecture and software‑controlled thermal management.
