Cyber Security Engineer

About the role

Citi is looking for a Cyber Security Engineer in its security organization in Budapest. You will design and implement robust security solutions that protect the organization against evolving cyber risks, working with SOC teams and supporting vulnerability management.

Key responsibilities

• Engineer and optimize enterprise firewall platforms such as Palo Alto PAN-OS and Check Point Gaia, and troubleshoot performance and reliability issues on high-load proxy, firewall and network-security components.
• Collaborate with SOC teams to improve detection coverage, reduce false positives and validate telemetry, and support vulnerability management processes.
• Build and tune monitoring dashboards using Prometheus, Grafana and Zabbix.
• Perform L3-level engineering across Linux, DNS, networking, routing, authentication and security layers.
• Produce operational and security documentation for global engineering and audit requirements.

Required profile

• 5+ years in cybersecurity or network security engineering and implementation, with hands-on experience with automation tools.
• Deep understanding of Check Point, Palo Alto, Fortinet and open-source firewall technologies, with strong hands-on experience deploying, configuring and troubleshooting firewalls.
• Familiarity with large-scale enterprise networks and procedures during design and implementation.
• Excellent communication skills and experience working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Required skills

• Linux administration, including building, maintaining and configuring base OS or Docker systems, possibly via automation.
• Cloud security knowledge (AWS, Azure or GCP) is a plus.
• Basic protocols such as DNS, HTTP, IPsec and SSL/TLS, and familiarity with IDS/IPS, VPNs, forward/reverse proxies and WAF solutions.
• Design metrics, analytics tools and benchmarking methodologies.
• Experience in a matrix organization and a track record of improving operational processes.
