About the role
As an Expert Cost Engineer at Bosch, you will shape competitive, sustainable, and profitable automotive products by analysing product costs, manufacturing technologies and carbon‑footprint impacts. You will provide data‑driven insights to engineering, purchasing and business teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
Key responsibilities
- Perform detailed cost analyses of components, tooling and manufacturing processes across various technologies and material groups.
- Identify and evaluate cost‑saving opportunities through design improvements, material selection and manufacturing optimisation.
- Support Design‑to‑Cost (D2C) activities by delivering value‑based engineering recommendations.
- Manage Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) calculations and propose measures to improve sustainability and reduce CO₂ emissions.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing and purchasing teams on RPP initiatives.
- Provide technical cost breakdowns and manufacturing expertise for sourcing activities and supplier negotiations.
- Conduct should‑cost analyses, competitor benchmarking and sales‑price evaluations to enhance cost transparency and competitiveness.
- Contribute to the continuous development of cost‑engineering methodologies, tools and knowledge sharing.
Required profile
- University degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or a related technical field.
- Several years of experience in Cost Engineering, Product Cost Management or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing technologies, production processes and material cost structures.
- Experience with Design‑to‑Cost methodologies and value‑engineering principles.
- Knowledge of product cost calculations, should‑cost analysis and cost‑optimization techniques.
- Analytical mindset with solid problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills in an international environment.
- Fluent English (written and spoken).
