Information Security Specialist

About the role

Itron, which helps utilities and cities manage energy and water, is looking for an Information Security Specialist in Budapest to help develop and implement a comprehensive Cyber Security Program. You will work with corporate and managed services business units to select and deploy technical controls that protect the confidentiality, availability and integrity of Itron's intellectual property and customer data.

Key responsibilities

• Support the implementation of a cyber security program, recommending solutions, controls, policies and procedures for globally distributed energy systems
• Provide second-level support and analysis during and after security incidents
• Review security technologies, tools and services and recommend improvements to the security team
• Run incident response exercises and incorporate lessons learned into security practice
• Conduct forensic analysis of security incidents in line with guidance from counsel, human resources or law enforcement
• Help administer and manage security tools, including ITSM tickets through ServiceNOW
• Take part in information security projects, SOC services, EDR, SIEM, Azure and Microsoft Defender products
• Build tools, utilities and reports to detect, alert and report on security issues and policy violations

Required profile

• At least 3 years of experience on the operations side, such as technical support or system administration
• Can-do attitude, willingness to share knowledge, detail-oriented and strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to own issues and follow them through to resolution
• Some experience with Office 365 and Azure

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of information security technologies
• Preferred: Active Directory and Azure AD (Entra)
• Preferred: endpoint protection, data filtering, firewalls, SIEM and log management tools
• Preferred: PowerShell, Python, KQL or Bash scripting
• Preferred: Linux and Windows operating systems
• Preferred: cloud and network concepts, OWASP and MITRE ATT&CK frameworks, multicloud security (Azure, AWS, GCP)
