Project Manager - Cost/Value Management or Benchmarking

About the role

POLARIXPARTNER, an international management consultancy focused on the manufacturing industry and a subsidiary of Roland Berger, is looking for a Project Manager with professional consulting experience in cost engineering and benchmarking to join its Budapest office. The role manages complex, cross-functional projects involving multiple internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Own full profit and loss responsibility for assigned consulting engagements
• Lead project teams independently, motivating them to meet ambitious goals within tight timelines
• Deliver high-quality client presentations using PowerPoint and similar tools
• Apply standard project management tools and frameworks within structured PMO environments
• Assess and optimize product and process costs across the entire product development lifecycle
• Interpret product development plans and requirements to identify and realize cost improvement opportunities
• Collaborate with procurement teams to support cost negotiations and sourcing strategies
• Analyze and implement engineering optimizations with a focus on technical integration and cost impact
• Apply advanced cost optimization methodologies such as VAVE, GAP analysis and benchmarking

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering; an MBA is preferred
• 5-10 years of relevant experience in consulting or industry, ideally in cost/value management or benchmarking
• Experience leading teams and solving complex challenges in fast-paced environments
• Fluency in English and excellent communication skills
• Willingness to travel and work on-site with clients across national and international settings
• Familiarity with automotive, off-highway, industrial goods, aerospace or electronics industries is a strong plus

Required skills

• Understanding of standard manufacturing processes and their cost implications for mechanical and electronic components
• Ability to evaluate engineering and cost trade-offs
• Hands-on experience in product development, production or procurement is an advantage
