About the role
Wise is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Mitigation Requirements team in Budapest. You will help build scalable, distributed systems that protect the platform from financial crime and enable smooth customer interactions.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement high‑performance backend services using Java and the Spring framework.
- Develop APIs and automation pipelines that connect customers with Servicing agents.
- Collaborate with product and other engineering teams to deliver features that reduce operational cost and risk.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices for clean, efficient code.
Required profile
- Strong experience in backend development with Java or other JVM‑based languages.
- Proven ability to decompose complex features into deliverable components.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a product‑first mindset.
- Curiosity and a passion for continuous learning and improvement.
