Senior Edge Security Engineer

About the role

Citi's Global Infrastructure Defense Security Engineering Team is looking for a Senior Edge Security Engineer in Budapest. The team designs, develops, tests and architects next-generation cybersecurity solutions worldwide, and in this role you will research, develop and certify security strategies, products, architectures and best practices, while defining and influencing key security strategy initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Define enterprise cyber security strategies, vision, roadmap and direction, including critical products and solutions
• Lead the design, ownership and innovation of Citi's Edge Security Platforms and ecosystems, such as WAF, CDN, telemetry and observability from external vantage points
• Deliver end-to-end service monitoring focused on resiliency and availability of client-facing services
• Work with Transformation Program Directors, Senior Architects and Steering Committees on perimeter and edge security programs
• Collaborate with global cyber security partners on next-generation cyber technology and related R&D
• Maintain inventory, accuracy and engineering excellence for assigned services and products
• Run hands-on lab testing of emerging cyber security technologies
• Build and maintain strong vendor relationships with major suppliers and security companies
• Write and publish designs, architecture standards, test results and best practice guides
• Identify risks and exposures in products and architectures from a security and threat perspective
• Participate in enterprise security work groups and lead and influence a virtual global team as a senior subject matter expert

Required profile

• 5-8 years of experience across multiple security disciplines and a strong understanding of layered defense concepts
• Deep understanding of TCP/IP and knowledge of network routing protocols
• Experience defining enterprise security strategy and ecosystem across diverse products
• Large-scale network and security design experience is essential
• Understanding of regulatory and risk management requirements
• University or college degree in a STEM area or equivalent industry/technology knowledge

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with firewall and proxy technologies
• Unix / Linux
• Scripting in Python, Perl or Bash
