Senior Java Engineering Lead – Cloud Security Platforms

About the role

Citi is looking for a Senior Java Engineering Lead to own the engineering strategy and delivery of mission-critical identity and security platforms within its Data Security Transformation Engineering organisation, part of Cloud Technology Services. The role directs a geographically distributed engineering team building highly scalable, cloud-native platforms that underpin Citi's global technology and security objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, engineering strategy and end-to-end delivery of secure, scalable, cloud-native platforms for identity and security.
• Direct a geographically distributed software engineering organisation, setting direction and fostering accountability, innovation and continuous improvement.
• Define technology roadmaps, architecture standards and engineering governance frameworks.
• Establish engineering best practices across development, testing, automation, deployment, observability and operational support.
• Partner with Product Owners, Enterprise Architects, Information Security and Infrastructure stakeholders.
• Coach and develop engineers and technical leaders, and manage technology, delivery and operational risks in line with security, compliance and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Significant experience leading enterprise software engineering organisations delivering large-scale distributed systems and cloud-native platforms.
• Hands-on experience with microservices, event-driven architectures and distributed systems, on Kubernetes and OpenShift.
• Track record managing geographically distributed teams in complex, matrixed organisations.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills at senior level.

• Apache Kafka, REST and SOAP APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger
• PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB; CI/CD, Git and DevOps practices
• Beneficial: SRE, Grafana, Prometheus, BDD, ReactJS, Python, identity/access management platforms in regulated industries
