Staff Platform Engineer

About the role

Silicon Labs is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to translate application needs and technology trends into requirements for future hardware and software platforms. You will work closely with vendors, customers, product teams, and internal engineering groups to define and influence the features and architectural capabilities of our IoT products.

Key responsibilities

• Research emerging applications, technologies, standards, and market trends relevant to future IoT products.
• Perform end‑application and competitive‑product analysis.
• Lead hands‑on feasibility studies and architectural trade‑off analyses for new system concepts, technologies, and optimizations.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, systems, and customer‑facing teams to validate requirements and architectural decisions.
• Identify product capabilities and differentiators needed to win in the market and influence roadmap decisions.

Required profile

• BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent with 8+ years of industry experience.
• Strong understanding of embedded microcontroller architectures, hardware IP architecture, and verification.
• Experience in embedded coding, IoT application development, and proof‑of‑concept work.
• Ability to mentor less‑experienced engineers and provide technical guidance across projects.

• Hardware IP architecture development and verification

• RTOS experience (FreeRTOS, Zephyr)
• IoT application development and embedded coding
• Use of lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators
