Staff Software Engineer – C++

About the role

ABBYY is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead technical design and delivery on the Vantage Document AI platform. You will shape cross‑cutting capabilities such as AI pipelines, LLM integration, compliance, analytics and platform extensibility.

Key responsibilities

• Drive technical design and delivery of major Vantage platform features, from architecture to deployment and monitoring.
• Define and enforce engineering standards for code quality, reliability, performance, security and compliance.
• Collaborate with product, ML, cloud and engineering leadership to translate business priorities into technical roadmaps.
• Lead platform health initiatives: service decomposition, observability, CI/CD maturity and developer productivity.
• Own high‑severity incident response, conduct post‑mortems and implement reliability improvements.
• Mentor senior and principal engineers, fostering a culture of rigor and continuous learning.
• Evaluate and champion new technologies, including GenAI model integrations and cloud‑native tooling.

Required profile

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with deep C++ expertise.
• Strong knowledge of microservices, distributed systems and cloud‑native patterns at enterprise scale.
• Experience with cloud platforms and Kubernetes, preferably Microsoft Azure (AKS, Storage, Key Vault, Azure SQL).
• Proven ability to design, implement and operate CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions).
• Experience leading technical design reviews and influencing architecture across teams.
