Senior Build Engineer

About the role

Formlabs is looking for a Senior Build Engineer to help build and ship PreForm, owning its quality and performance signals. You will make quality automated, measurable, and enforced at the PR gate while shaping the future of 3D fabrication.

Key responsibilities

• Detect performance regressions by measuring KPIs (startup, upload, print generation, crash rate) per PR and nightly in CI with alerting.
• Re‑architect system tests for the PreForm Local API to drive end‑to‑end scenarios headlessly.
• Build and own a pipeline that runs large batches of real customer models through slicing and support generation, comparing results against baselines.
• Own Sentry triage, trending, and root‑cause attribution, and create crash‑reproduction harnesses.
• Steward test infrastructure, including print regression baselines, CI flake management, test runtimes, and golden‑file management.

Required profile

• Proficient in C++ and able to write integration and system tests for PreForm internals.
• Strong Python skills for tooling, pipelines, and test drivers.
• Deep experience with CI automation (Jenkins), test parallelization, and baseline testing strategies.
• Instinct for observability using Sentry, Amplitude, and performance dashboards.
• Experience with desktop application testing on Windows/macOS (Squish or Qt Test‑based harnesses).
• Mid‑to‑senior individual contributor able to define test strategy independently.
