Senior Data Scientist – Agentic AI Platform

About the role

Johnson Controls is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead the development of an Agentic AI Platform – a system of autonomous, tool‑using AI agents that plan, reason and execute complex business workflows end‑to‑end.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and productionize multi‑agent systems using frameworks such as LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI or Semantic Kernel.
• Develop end‑to‑end Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, including document ingestion, chunking, embeddings, vector search and grounding.
• Integrate agents with enterprise APIs via tool/function calling and Model Context Protocol patterns.
• Build LLM evaluation frameworks, implement safety guardrails and governance controls.
• Fine‑tune and optimize LLMs on Azure OpenAI/Azure AI Foundry, and develop classical ML models where needed.
• Own LLMOps/MLOps for the platform: experiment tracking, CI/CD, observability, drift monitoring and retraining.
• Collaborate with data engineers on Azure Data Lake, Databricks and Synapse data pipelines.
• Mentor junior data scientists and lead code/design reviews.

Required profile

• Professional experience building production LLM or GenAI applications.
• Hands‑on experience with agentic frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph) and Azure cloud services.
• Strong Python expertise (pandas, NumPy, scikit‑learn, async programming, FastAPI).
• Solid understanding of vector databases, embeddings and RAG techniques.
• Experience with classical ML, TensorFlow or PyTorch, and MLOps tools (MLflow, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
