Technical Accounting Senior Manager

About the role

Diageo, a global beverage alcohol company with brands such as Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, Tanqueray and Guinness, is hiring a Technical Accounting Senior Manager in Budapest. The role acts as the main contact within the Chief Accountant team for resolving complex accounting issues and supports the Head of technical accounting, the Financial reporting team and regional markets.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accounting papers supporting Diageo's accounting treatment in complex issues and take ownership of them, working with markets to achieve the best outcome.
• Support the Head of technical accounting in resolving complex accounting issues and implementing new accounting standards.
• Prepare and review the Group annual report, press release, 20-F and 6-K, focusing on IFRS compliance and other external reporting obligations.
• Coordinate the Financial Reporting team, monitor the accuracy of reporting received from the business and communicate errors and improvement opportunities.
• Monitor compliance with group accounting policies, update them for new standards and interpretations, and train the broader finance sector through technical accounting updates.
• Engage with markets to ensure full compliance, support market issues and initiatives, and partner with senior team members for timely reporting and issue resolution.
• Liaise with group auditors for interim, annual and SOX audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree, preferably in Finance or Accounting.
• Professional qualification such as ACCA or CPA is an advantage.
• 10+ years of strong financial accounting experience, including significant IFRS reporting experience.
• Proven experience preparing statutory accounts under IFRS and relevant accounting standards.
• Experience in a multinational finance environment across different commercial and cultural markets.
