Direct Tax Senior

About the role

This Direct Tax Senior role sits in the Direct Tax Reporting and Compliance team, covering Rest of the World entities. It is central to delivering the group's external tax reporting requirements, including SOX obligations, and to ensuring that direct tax processes across European, African and APAC markets are accurate, efficient and on time, using automation and outsourcing where applicable.

Key responsibilities

• Direct tax reporting: reconcile return-to-group differences, maintain and manage deferred tax schedules, and prepare OTP tax provision and deferred tax schedules for non-complex Diageo entities
• Handle Prior Year Adjustments (PYA) and P09 reporting for non-complex or medium-complex RoW entities, in line with IFRS and group reporting instructions
• Monitor changes in the external reporting and taxation environment and assess their impact on Diageo, including the Group auditors' position
• Proactively interpret business changes and their tax reporting implications, especially for allocated reporting entities
• Carry out compliance activities such as corporate income tax returns, suffered withholding tax and other supplementary returns, and support the local tax manager
• Build and manage relationships with GBO FC teams, compliance teams and local tax teams

Required profile

• Diploma in finance or accounting
• 2-5 years of finance experience
• Strong technical accounting skills and an excellent understanding of IFRS
• Good communication and influencing skills, with the ability to network with senior stakeholders
• Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure, with good judgement and self-motivation
