Senior Staff Software Engineer

About the role

Wise is building a global money‑movement network and needs a senior technical leader to shape the Mitigation Platform Squad. You will design, build and maintain scalable backend systems that keep the platform compliant and cost‑effective.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement large‑scale, domain‑driven solutions for the Mitigation Platform.
• Collaborate with product, design and other engineering teams to deliver features and resolve issues.
• Define technical road‑maps, scope work and mentor junior engineers.
• Document architecture and APIs to enable adoption across Wise teams.

Required profile

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, primarily with Java or other JVM‑based languages.
• Proven ability to architect and scale complex systems.
• Strong communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
• Experience mentoring engineers and driving cross‑team collaboration.
