Software Engineering Manager

About the role

PTC is seeking a hands‑on Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of 5–10 engineers building backend systems on a Java/Spring/Oracle/PostgreSQL stack. The role combines people management with technical oversight to ensure stable, reliable delivery of features.

Key responsibilities

• Manage hiring, onboarding, performance reviews and day‑to‑day support for the engineering team.
• Own feature delivery from planning through release, working with product owners and stakeholders to define scope and timelines.
• Provide technical guidance, review designs, and maintain code quality within a monolithic application environment.
• Collaborate with QA, product managers and other teams, communicating progress, blockers and trade‑offs.

Required profile

• 5–10+ years of Java backend development experience.
• At least 2 years of experience leading a software engineering team or acting as a senior tech lead.
• Proven ability to balance hands‑on coding with people management.
• Experience maintaining and evolving large monolithic production codebases.
