Staff Build & Release Engineer - DevOps

About the role

The Staff Build & Release Engineer (DevOps) owns the build, continuous integration, delivery, test and release strategy and hands-on implementation for complex, parallel and concurrent releases of a software product. The role manages CI, deployments and tests within the SDLC, works independently and acts as a technical leader.

Key responsibilities

• Own and design the build, CI, delivery, test and release processes for large, complex releases, sometimes expanding across multiple concurrent releases
• Manage and improve the release process for scale and efficiency, deploying the right builds across environments
• Develop and enhance the test infrastructure and CI framework, and promote best practices across the team
• Mentor junior team members, coach on performance and share knowledge, and lead a team of DevOps/Build & Release Engineers
• Work with developers, stakeholders, program and product teams to deliver quality software and prioritize DevOps deliverables
• Diagnose bugs with colleagues, evangelize industry best practices, and learn new build and release techniques

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Strong software development experience focused on DevOps, and proven experience leading, mentoring or coordinating technical teams
• Leadership, collaboration and stakeholder management skills, able to influence cross-functional teams

Required skills

• Scripting in Python, Bash or PowerShell
• CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps or CircleCI
• Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP)
• Configuration management (Ansible, Puppet, Chef) and monitoring/logging (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)
• Networking, Linux/Windows OS and database systems
