Accounting and Reporting Lead

About the role

bp's new Supply, Trading & Shipping team in Budapest is looking for an Accounting and Reporting Lead. The role ensures that internal and external accounting and reporting is prepared in line with IFRS and BP Group accounting policies for the designated entity(ies) and businesses, and is accountable for the integrity of accounting across the end-to-end process, including activities within the GBS. It works closely with business stakeholders, GSC and GBS, and acts as the main interface with audit, tax and the GBS/BPO.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the T&S RPT business finance to deliver accurate, timely financial accounting and reporting, supporting transparency and integrity.
• Explore automation and continuous improvement opportunities to improve efficiency.
• Build team capability and coach staff in new skills and practices.
• Maintain internal and external relationships to deliver accounting and reporting projects, including audits and planning.
• Lead the control agenda, coordinating control reviews, health checks and audits in local entities, including IT/Systems risks and controls.
• Manage a team of direct reports and share best practices across the wider team.
• Coordinate analysis and explanation of reports and accounts to support informed decisions.

Required profile

• Finance and accounting professional or graduate with 6-8 years of relevant experience.
• Recognised accounting qualification and proven track record in financial accounting.
• Experience in process re-engineering, process transformation and managing teams (finance lead, team leader or audit manager).
• 5+ years of experience coaching and/or leading others.
• Proficiency in English; oil and energy industry knowledge is a big plus.

Required skills

• Knowledge of SAP financial modules, functionality and reporting tools.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines and handle organisational change.
