Core Finance Analyst - Refined Product Trading

About the role

bp's new Supply, Trading & Shipping (ST&S) Finance & Risk teams provide financial stewardship, reporting, control and risk support to its ST&S organisation. The Core Finance Analyst sits in the Controllership team, which owns controlled delivery of close and reporting for an assigned business or portfolio, and reports to the Senior Manager, Controllership. The analyst delivers Core Finance activities independently with accuracy and control, and may move flexibly across products, services, portfolios or initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Produce, validate and explain management information and performance analysis, investigate data and valuation issues and recommend actions
• Perform valuation reviews of assigned portfolios, assessing input data, curves, models, methodologies and adjustments
• Support new commercial activities from assessment through implementation, including functional assurance and handover to business-as-usual
• Lead improvement initiatives using project delivery, process redesign and change management
• Own processes and deliverables end to end, keeping documentation and control evidence
• Work with Commercial Finance, Controllership, Finance & Risk Advisory, the Front Office, technology and service-delivery teams

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, Data or a related field
• 6-7 years of relevant experience in commodity trading finance, valuation control, management information, commercial finance, new activity delivery, project delivery or a comparable analytical environment
• Proven track record of independently delivering complex work and coordinating across teams

Required skills

• Financial analysis, management information and valuation processes, data controls and business improvement
• Understanding of valuation methodologies, models, market curves, data lineage and control frameworks
• Working knowledge of project delivery, process design, change management and automation
• Strong understanding of commodity trading and supply businesses, and of the roles of Front Office, Commercial Finance, Controllership, Finance & Risk Advisory, Technology and service providers
