Core Finance Lead - Refined Product Trading

About the role

bp's new Supply, Trading & Shipping (ST&S) team in Budapest is looking for a Core Finance Lead. The role sits in the Controllership team, which delivers close and reporting control for an assigned business or portfolio, and reports to the Senior Manager, Controllership. It oversees technical controllership across co-located business and technology centre teams and service providers, bringing management information, performance analysis, valuation validation, new activity support, project delivery and continuous improvement into a governed service model.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the production, validation and explanation of management information and performance analysis, calling out material movements, data issues and valuation differences.
• Oversee independent valuation reviews, including input data, curves, models, methodologies and adjustments, so that valuations used for external management accounting are appropriate and aligned with data requirements.
• Lead Core Finance support for new commercial activity, from assessment through implementation, and handover to sustainable business-as-usual processes.
• Manage cross-functional improvement and transformation initiatives, simplifying, standardising, automating or stopping work.
• Set priorities across teams and locations, coach colleagues and define accountabilities, service expectations, documentation and escalation routes.
• Partner with Finance, commercial, technology and service-delivery teams to resolve complex data, valuation and process issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, Data or a related field.
• 6-8 years of post-degree experience, including at least 5 years coaching and/or leading others.
• Significant experience in commodity trading finance, valuation control, management information, commercial finance, new activity delivery, transformation, project management or a comparable analytical environment.
• Proven track record of leading complex work across functions, teams and geographic locations.

Required skills

• Financial analysis, management information, valuation processes, data controls and business transformation.
• Valuation methodologies, models, market curves, data lineage, control evidence and management accounting requirements.
• Project delivery, process design, change management, automation and continuous improvement.
• Understanding of ST&S or a comparable commodity trading and supply business.
• Leadership of Core Finance teams and agile delivery teams, stakeholder management and analytical problem solving.
